Building a scalable, secure insurance engagement platform with AWS for ManageMy

About the customer

ManageMy is a cutting-edge SaaS platform built for the insurance sector. Designed to streamline and enhance the customer journey, it enables insurers, brokers, and third-party administrators to offer seamless digital experiences, from purchasing and managing policies to submitting and tracking claims.

The platform empowers insurance providers to digitise customer interactions quickly and effectively, all while maintaining brand consistency and regulatory compliance. Operating in a traditionally risk-averse sector, ManageMy is trusted by many progressive organisations, and continues to challenge how insurers engage with their customers.

The challenge

A comprehensive technical audit revealed that the existing infrastructure was not fit for purpose, unable to meet the demands of a growing user base or support the company’s longer-term targets.

The architecture lacked the flexibility to serve multiple clients efficiently, posed potential security concerns, and offered limited scope for development of new features and services. To remain competitive in a fast-paced market, ManageMy needed a robust, secure, and scalable new platform, one that could grow with the business and meet the evolving expectations of enterprise customers.

The solution

Going beyond the traditional client-supplier relationship, IDS became ManageMy’s strategic partner throughout the project, rebuilding the entire platform from the ground up. Cloud-native, highly secure, and designed for rapid growth.

Using cutting-edge technology, IDS and ManageMy were able to streamline the internal processes and reduce administrative hours tied into manually updating and customising programmes for each individual client. A new vastly adaptive software offering now allows for future upscaling and expansion into further international territories.

Key AWS components used in the architecture include Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) for secure network isolation, Amazon ECS with Fargate to run containerised services without managing servers, and Amazon ECR for storing and deploying Docker images. Amazon Aurora (MySQL) powers the relational database layer, while Amazon Redshift and AWS Glue handle analytics and ETL workflows.

Amazon ElastiCache (Redis) accelerates app performance with in-memory caching, and Application Load Balancer (ALB) intelligently routes traffic to healthy services. CloudFront improves content delivery speed and security, and Amazon S3 stores user-uploaded files at scale.

AWS CodePipeline enables automated CI/CD, AWS Systems Manager ensures consistent operations, and DynamoDB supports low-latency NoSQL features. AWS WAF protects the platform against common web exploits for enterprise-grade security.

The results

The 2.0 platform has allowed for greater flexibility on the overall project budget, creating a variable cost base for the longer-term development plans and transfer of resource as required to ensure that budgets remain on track.

Since commencing the strategic partnership in April 2018, IDS remains an invested technical partner as part of its accelerator programme.

Our experience of working with IDS has been a wholly positive one. They have demonstrated a thorough understanding of our business and clients’ requirements and given us the confidence of being adept in delivering at every stage of the project.
